As a qualified nurse with an academic and clinical background in genetics and antenatal work, I act as the main point of contact for couples undergoing PGD until they begin the IVF treatment. I meet all the couples who are referred to us to discuss PGD at the initial consultation and organise the next steps for them. I aim to be available to keep them informed of the progress of their treatment. I am in constant touch with referring geneticists, the other clinical staff here and the scientists who undertake the genetic testing, as well as the couples, so I can find the right person to answer any queries as they arise. I enjoy liaising and hope to make an often long and worrying process smoother and more intelligible.
